Dr. Ambedkar Institute of hotel management, catering and nutrition, Chandigarh was set up in the year 1990 in a Government Sarai Building Sector 32-A, which was provided  by the Union Territory Administration, Chandigarh . 

It is one of the 52 Institutes to train young promising men and women to provide manpower for the hospitality industry. The institute was shifted from Government Sarai Building to its own building at Sector 42-D, Chandigarh   on. 16^th September 1996. The new building of the Institute is situated among lush green surroundings of the Le Courbusier‘s City beautiful.

 We not only lay stress and emphasis on creating professional skills but also encourage various other curriculum activities to develop an overall personality of the candidate ,which enable the trainee to come up to the  expected level of performance of hospitality industry .It can be proudly said that the students of this institute have achieved many top merit position on all India basis and the job placement after training has almost been 100% for the past 5 years. 

   We being professional  and vocational training institute, train and groom, the motivated youth of India, seeking exciting ,challenging and glamour's career in Eco-Friendly hospitality industry of our country. This being a specialized and professional industry where the motto is “Specialize or Perish ” we lay special emphasis to provide training  environment to our student to be gainfully absorbed  in Hotels ,motels, restaurants, tourist resorts, industrial canteens and other allied outlets.

To achieve this Goal we encourage our students to bring out the various aspects of their personality Traits through different competitions and participation in social, cultural and educational activities at local and National level

It will not be out of place to mention that our institute is among  the first three choices for admission among all IHM's of India.

We are part of NCHMCT (national council for hotel management and catering technology) organization, which is guided and  controled by Ministry of Tourism ,Government of India.
